As is our All Natural lean ground beef if you buy 5 packages or more @ $4.49.
Or even less if you buy a whole case @ only $3.99 / lb ... or 25% off!!!
And remember when you buy a package of our lean ground beef it came from one animal at a time.
Not dozens or even hundreds ~ which is commonly the case at your corporate supermarket.
Even more importantly our lean ground beef does not contain any hormones or antibiotics.
This beef comes from a local family farm near Port Perry ~ from a closed herd.
All the grain and other feed given to these animals is grown on the farm.
Animals always have hay or pasture and access to a paddock for exercise.
No animal by-products or protein pellets here.
Just tender young beef ~ aged to perfection.
We will have a wide variety of fresh cuts of same available for you this week as well.
Or you could always order a side or quarter to put into your freezer.

Lots of other terrific local personal care products there as well.
By Elemi Organics, Nature's Bodyworks, simply by amanda and Beaulance.
No one does local like clean food.
Wanted to mention a golden moment or two from the Olympics.
No not the gold medal for the men's moguls.
Although that certainly was a wonderful moment to be sure.
I just sat there and wept for some reason or other.
Don't know why exactly but it was a great moment for Canada.
Was thinking about the women's moguls from the night before.
When Jenn Heil was confronted by someone for not winning the gold she said ...
I didn't lose the gold medal, I won the silver.
Exactly!
Think that in some ways we have completely lost sight of what the Olympics are all about.
And it's not winning medals.
A chance for us to compete with the very best from all around the world.
It's about our athletes doing their very best.
And then it's about us being proud of them and of that no matter what that is.
This program of ours called Own The Podium is completely inappropriate.
Nobody owns the podium in any sport ~ no not even hockey ~ nor should they.
Who would want to watch the games at all if that were the case.
The name of this program and the approach it represents demonstrates a complete lack of respect
and appreciation for others and their talents.
Still haven't forgiven the womens hockey team for weeping as they were awarded the silver
after losing a game in which they were badly outplayed by the Americans a few years back.
No one should ever be ashamed to win the silver medal!
That's the second best in the whole word ~ and that's pretty good!
And any medal should be accepted with class and dignity.
What ever happened to the concepts and ideals of modesty and humility?
Both fundamental parts of good sportsmanship.
Back to the women's moguls again for a minute.
Wonderful to see all those competitors hugging and congratulating each other.
Regardless of what country they came from!
Men could learn a lot from that model.
And finally when one of our other women ~ Ms. Richards ~ fell on her run,
she got up, assessed her circumstances and they continued down the hill to do one of the best jumps of the evening.
Now that was a golden moment!
And that's what it's all about or certainly should be.
And finally, when you're glued to the tv watching the Olympics don't forget about us.
You do have to eat after all!!!
So you can get up and watch the games again the next day.
Why tear yourself away from your screen when we'll do the shopping for you?
That's what we're all about!
And we will bring your food to you in a most sportsmanlike way!
So please click on that mouse and we'll come to your house.
Or you can head out the door and come to our store.
For organics galore and so much more.
But when I come to your door please tell me the score!!!
And Go Canada Go!
Patriotically yours ~ Bob Burrows @ clean food

Well according to some groundhog meteorologists we're going to have winter for 6 more weeks.
If it's anything like we've been getting so far this year that's fine by me!!!
Who ever thought a groundhog would know anything about predicting the weather anyway?
People at the weather service have enough trouble doing that.
And they've got lots of instruments and machines to help them out!
Actually used to have a pet groundhog ~ named Chuck of course.
Mother was killed and the babies were abandoned so we ended up with one.
Feisty little rascal.
Hated the cat and chased it all over the house.
Didn't put up with any guff from the dog either ... or us for that matter.
Loved tomatoes and a lot of other stuff in our garden unfortunately.
Came fall and it did what any respectable groundhog would do.
Dug a hole under the wood pile and hibernated.
Woke up in the Spring and took off ~ never saw it again.
Probably went off to college to study meteorology!!!
Anyway time to come out of your burrow and head over to our great line up of Specials at ...

Fresh smoked rainbow trout coming in this week as well.
All our All Natural Free Run turkey parts are on sale.
Same for whole frozen turkeys.
Terrific prices on all sorts of organic produce including ...
Grapefruit, limes, lettuce, celery, baby bok choy.
And 4lb bags of navels ~ oranges that is not belly buttons.
NEW and returning to the fold ...
Asparagus from California, Brussel sprouts from the same.

They definitely have a Venice so who knows?!
Italian parsley that isn't from Italy either.
Baby spinach that isn't really a baby.
And Empire apples from Ontario ~ part of the empire at one time I believe.
We're a contradictory bunch at clean food.
Also want to point out that we have fair trade blueberries from Chile.
Could we have gotten cheaper organic blueberries?
Yes we could have but we didn't do that.
Why ~ because there's more to consider than price when you buy something.
We strongly support the concept of fair trade ~ hope you do too.
Our bananas are also fair trade at the moment as well.
New additions to the clean food kitchen include ...
All Natural chicken noodle soup and chicken stock / broth.
And we have some new gluten free vegetarian organic pakoras.
To go along with our wonderful organic samosas.
Free samples of both coming your way this week if you place a delivery order.

We expect to be able to offer you the full menu of fresh organic East Indian food very soon.
Made to order just for you ~ outstanding quality!
Congratulations to Michael Schmidt ~ dairy farmer from Durham ON.
You might say he got a raw deal from the powers that be.
About raw milk ~ and he won big time.
Was found not guilty on all 19 charges laid against him for selling raw milk.
However he wasn't really doing that which is why he won.
He was selling shares in cows!
If you have a cow it is perfectly legal for you to milk that cow and drink the milk.
I have actually done just that myself ~ long story , another time maybe.
So if you buy shares in a cow and then hire him to milk it for you ... there you go!
This arrangement is very common in the United States.
Sure it will become much more common around here ... now.
Also certain that there is a lot of wailing, knashing of teeth and wringing of hands in the ivory towers.
Much dismay in the corporate world of industrialized milk production.
Big dairies, the milk board and all sorts of government beaurocrats are likely very upset.
Because the poor rascals have lost their total control over dairy farming.
Looks good on them.
Have to admire Mr. Schmidt for his courage and total commitment to what he believes in.
Your freedom of choice for one thing.
Kept on doing his thing despite having his equipment confiscated and court instructions to not do so.
Actually doubled the size of his herd during this difficult odyssey.
Apparently he has so many names on his waiting list he won't be able to accommodate them all.
Sure other dairy farmers will now step in to fill the need.
Of course there was a time when pasteurization was critically important to human health.
Louis Pasteur certainly did save a lot of people from contracting TB in his day.
And he should forever be revered for so doing.
But times have changed a lot since then.
Every time a milk transport truck picks up milk from a farm they are required to take samples.
Those samples are then forwarded to the University of Guelph for testing.
Within hours they are aware if there are any issues of concern RE any batch of milk.
And if there are they head directly out to that farm, isolate the cow with the problem and eliminate it.
Such facilities were just not available in Pasteur's time at all.
And the level of hygiene in a modern milking barn is way ahead of those days as well.
So hats off to Farmer Schmidt ... and to freedom of choice.
David beat Goliath ... the little guy wins again.
And speaking of such don't forget about us because we can't do what we do ~ without you!
And that is providing you with a real alternative to the world of industrialized food.
With access to all sorts of local food and other products.
Where a pound of lean ground beef comes from one animal at a time.
Not dozens or possibly even hundreds of cattle.
Where you can get local beef and other meats that are free of hormones and antibiotic residues.
It's a tough job competing with the corporate monsters of the food business.
But somebody's got to do it ~ we're up for that.
And we appreciate your support to accomplish the task.
We are the little guy here both figuratively and in my case literally!
So please head out the door and come to our store for organics galore and more OR ...
Click on that mouse and we'll come to your house.
Our selection is ample and we'll bring you some samples!
Diminutively Repeatedly yours ~ Bob Burrows @ clean food

And why would you be interested in that?
Because you save lots of money!!!
If you invest $500 or more we will pay you back in food @ 10% off.
That's 10% off everything ... so you are saving $1 for every $10 you spend.
Or $10 for every $100.
Or $100 for every $1000 ~ you get the picture.
And that can add up to quite a tidy sum.
We set up an account for you and then deduct each delivery from what you have invested @ 10% off.
Until we have paid you back in full.
If you invest $5000 or more we will give you 15% off everything ~ same idea as above.
One of our customers invested approx $7000 in the cfcf .
At 15% off they saved $1050 on that ~ a pretty good deal.
For them and for us because we got some badly needed capital.
And they saved lots of money on food they would have ordered anyway.
By the way we now owe them less than $400 on that.
Food for thought!
Also, if you have a company or a service that is ecologically friendly and all that
you should consider placing an ad on our web site.
Great rates ~ $3 a day for a top banner or $2 a day for a side box.
Minimum ad duration is 30 days.
And if you take six months you get one month for free.
Terrific exposure ~ to approximately 4500 people who click on approximately 42 000 pages every month.

First of all Happy New Year to you and yours.
Let's start 2010 off on the right foot by heading over to our great line up of Specials at ...
http://www.cleanfoodconnection.com/catalog/specials.php
Terrific deals on all sorts of organic produce as usual.

Good way to celebrate the new year would be with some fresh local All Natural beef.

Farmer grows all his own grain.
Animals always have access to the outdoors and lots of hay.
Beef raised the way it's supposed to be.
Also from a traditional dual purpose breed ~ shorthorns.
All this gab about Angus beef is just that.
A very successful exercise in branding and advertising I admit.
However if it's full of hormones and antibiotics then where are you ... Angus or not?
And when it hits your plate you would never know the difference anyway!
So we're starting a branding campaign of our own!
For some wonderful fresh local Certified Shorthorn beef please go to ...
http://www.cleanfoodconnection.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=29_110_91

And we have fresh organic cranberries from New Brunswick too!
And what would Christmas be like without cranberries.
A little less red and not so tart?
To celebrate the arrival of this time of year we also have ...
Brussel sprouts, red kale, radicchio and local loose spinach leaves.
Notice they're all red or green!
And some loose clementines ~ which are obviously orange!
Also some special fresh herb mixes for the season ~ turkey or roast baster, sage and rosemary.
Now if we just had the thyme we could head off to Scarborough Fair!
And don't forget about those wonderful Christmas fruit cakes from Little Stream Bakery.
Now available in a gluten free variety.
All their cakes now contain French brandy!!!
Apparently the temperance variety just wasn't selling at all.
Shows how far we've come since the Prohibition days!
Now we're starting the downhill slide to alcoholism ... with fruit cake.
What a way to go.
So next time you're pulled over by a RIDE patrol and you're asked ...

You can honestly say no.
BUT ... I was eating organic Christmas cake!
A lot of you are looking for gifts at this time of year.

Hand painted ceramic travel mugs by local potter and artist Cynthia Cupples.
These unique mugs come in many varieties.
Please go to ...
http://www.cleanfoodconnection.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=141_326
Unfortunately we could only get pictures of one variety at this point ~ the abstract design.
So we had to fill in with some other images for the time being.
You will just have to imagine what the actual mugs look like for now.
Why not order a couple and find out?!
And yes there really is a red green mug.
But it doesn't really have the mug of Red Green on it!
Nor does it come with any duct tape.
It's just red and green.
These mugs do not impart any flavour into your organic fair trade coffee or tea.
They are dishwasher and microwave safe.
And each one is hand painted by Cynthia herself ~ local artist and nice person.
Truly a one of a kind gift for someone special.
And you're supporting the local economy too.
Now that's a Christmas win - win!
Aside from that we also have lots of lovely personal care products and gift paks.

Because Christmas falls on Friday we are going to have to re-invent ourselves next week.
Deliveries that we normally do from Wednesday to Saturday
will take place next week from Tuesday to Thursday.
Exactly how that will happen I'm not entirely sure yet but we will let you know next Monday.
Likely we will be heading into Toronto on Tuesday night instead of Wednesday.
And then moving everything else up by a day or two.
Have to get things done early on Thursday so I can get to Anna Marie's traditional Christmas Eve dinner.
Now that's a seafood feast if ever there was one.
Would like to have it before midnight this year if possible!
There will be no home deliveries between Christmas and New Years.
Also because of scheduling issues we will not be bringing in any milk during that period.
However all our stores will be open from Monday Dec 29th to 31st.
If you need to top up this or that.
And speaking of our stores, don't forget our Drop In And Win Draws.

We're handing them out to all our in-store customers this week.
It's a clean food blitz!!!
Please distribute those clean food bucks and if you need more let us know.
Because after all we can't do what we do ~ without you ~ and many others too!
So don't be keeping us all to yourself!
Don't be selfish ~ pass us around.
And if you want to show your friends and relatives what we're all about
just tell them to watch Rogers TV next week.
We will be featured on a show called Greener York.
Okay you should watch too.
Rogers wanted to follow local food from the farm to the store to the customer.
So they did.
Program includes interviews and visits with local farmers ~ and with yours truly.
clean food in media ~ can our own food channel be far behind?
Now there's an idea!
We lost a giant in the music business last Sunday.
Hayden Neale the lead singer of Jack Soul passed away at 39 from lung cancer.
Excellent songwriter, exceptional vocalist and from all reports a wonderful human being.
Gorgeous soulful voice and a unique and special approach.
Will really miss him.
Reminder that life is short, in this case much too short!
So treasure every moment.
Because suddenly it's gone.
And finally of course don't forget about us.
Just head out the door and come to our store for organics galore OR ..
Click on that mouse and we'll come to your house.
With your shopping cart ... and joy in our heart.
Now that's convenience with a positive attitude!

If this is Autumn then keep it coming!
Wonderful to behold.
Just like our great line up of Specials at ...
http://www.cleanfoodconnection.com/catalog/specials.php
Terrific deals on Braeburns and all our other apples.
Same for all our pears ... of which we have 4 kinds.
So you might say we have 2 pairs of pears on sale at the moment.
Good deals on Fair Trade bananas and avocado.
And on all our plums too.
Brussel sprouts, bunch spinach and green beans are also a bargain.
Along with zucchini ~ both green and yellow.
Same for fresh wild cod fillets.
We also have fresh Pacific snapper.
And some fresh wild halibut portions, likely for the last time this year.
Season is coming to an end or maybe already has.
We have a few fresh smoked rainbow trout on hand as well.
Smoked wild sockeye coming soon.
All our All Natural free run turkey parts are on sale this week.
Turkey parts sounds like you need to repair a turkey ~ not so!
Just eat one a little bit at a time.
And we don't have that many in stock so get'm while you can.
While supplies last.
Particularly good deal on the stock bones.
Turkey soup anyone?
And all this talk about turkey starts me thinking ...
About politics? ... no!
About Christmas ... yes!
Still a while to go but we already have a few orders under our belt.
Just thought I would mention it in passing.
NEW and returning to the scene ...
Cucumber bundles.
Rogers doesn't have a monopoly on bundles anymore.
We have them too.
You get 5 minimum spray local English cucumbers in a bundle.
And it's a great deal for only $4.99.
Same minimum spray cucumbers we already sell but...
Thing is they're naked ~ that's right totally nude!
No plastic wrap or whatever else you might want to call that wrapping on most such cukes.
Now we also have a special price for local loose topless beets.
And it's totally legal to go topless even for beets.
Don't know about the loose part though.
And we had a choice between sleeved celery or naked this week.
We went with naked just to be consistent.
And we won't keep it a secret from you that we also have some loose arugula from guess who?
That's right Queen Victoria ~ to keep our Victoria Secret spring mix company.
As you can see things are really heating up in the produce aisle at clean food!
Okay my social life stinks and I'm just longing for some company.
Also got to watch Taya dance last Saturday night at the Jam For Pam ~ great event!
Wonderful music and terrific dancing.
That girl really shakes things up!!! ~ quite literally.
But then that's what belly dancers are supposed to do!
Okay where were we ...
Last call for certified organic Pasture Fed beef for the time being.

http://www.cleanfoodconnection.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=29_110_325
Beef of this kind is hard to find so take advantage while you can.
And please keep in mind that supplies of particular cuts are hit and miss.
The sooner we know what you would like, the better the chance we can get it for you.
One of our customers showed me a copy of Food Inc. that she had just rented from a store.
So it's out there.
Of course you can also buy a copy ~ there is a link to do that on our site.
Along with the trailer and a great interview with the Director Robert Kenner.
Certainly a MUST SEE for anyone who cares about what they eat.
Are there actually people who don't care about that?
Apparently so.
And finally that same old refrain from that same little brain.
Please head out the door and come to our store for organics galore OR ...
Just click on that mouse and we'll come to your house.
Now that's convenience.

Well if this is global warming it doesn't seem to be such a bad thing!
Not at the moment anyway.
Hope you are enjoying August in November.
And I am sure you will also enjoy our great line up of Specials at ...
http://www.cleanfoodconnection.com/catalog/specials.php
Particularly worthy of note ...
4 lb bags of navel oranges, limes ~ just for you Laura, black plums and pomegranates.

And local organic herbs ~ rosemary and cilantro.
Local fresh All Natural rib eyes are on sale too.
NEW and /or returning to the fold this week ...
Local kohlrabi.
Tastes sort of like turnip.
Tusca pears ~ actually think they are properly called Tosca pears.
Opera finally comes to the produce department.
High brow fruit!
They look a lot like D'Anjou's.
Our supplier Karen says they have an icy taste ~ that's cool!
Can't wait to try one ~ how about you?
And we have some Northern spies.
Not Arctic men in trench coats ~ great baking apples.
And they're from Ontari - ari - ario where good things gro-o-o-ow!
Also from the promised land ~ actually out near Port Perry ~ lots of fresh All Natural beef.
Steaks, roasts, stew and more.
Wonderful tender beef, aged to perfection ~ no hormones, no antibiotics ~ and no feedlot!
The beef from this farm were all born there, raised in an ethical and appropriate way.
Always fed hay or have access to fresh pasture.
This is beef produced in the traditional way.
Not only can you taste the difference but also you can feel good about serving it to your family and friends.
Nitrate free bacon is back ~ but that would make it back bacon which it isn't!
But we do have some tasty local peameal bacon that is pretty well the same thing as back bacon.
Except it's covered in peameal of course.
This is getting more confusing by the minute.
It's all good ~ for breakfast that is!
And don't forget about ...
Our local certified organic Pasture Fed beef from a farm near Midland.
All sorts of cuts available at ...
http://www.cleanfoodconnection.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=29_110_325

Lets you try out this wonderful meat at an economical price.
Pasture fed beef literally brings many benefits to the table according to Dr. David Suzuki.
Beneficial cholesterols and omega oils to name a couple.
And it tastes great too!
We are waiting until we have enough orders for this new product.
So then, as they say it's worth the drive to Midland.
Have a few orders under our belt and will likely be heading up there soon.
So get your orders in right away.
You won't be disappointed.
If they were going to crown someone the Queen of Downtown Newmarket it would likely be Pamela Janz.
Pam has done a terrific job of running our store there for a couple of years now.
She is one of the most effervescent, vivacious people I have ever met.
It is a joy to be around her at any time.
Many of locals just drop in to say hi to her as they as passing by whether they want food or not.
She is one wonderful woman as anyone who knows her will tell you.
Pam has to go in for a medical procedure soon that will keep her away from our store for a while.
So some of her friends have organized a benefit for her ~ called the Jam For Pam!
Takes place this coming Saturday night at the Grey Goat Pub ~ 74 Main St. in Newmarket.
Starts at 7PM til 10PM.
Features the music of David Rankine and Dulcimer Head.
Apparently they have the dulcimer market all tied up.
That's because no one else is playing dulcimers!
And a drumming group that can literally raise the dead.
Also Juno nominated multi instrumentalist Loretto Reid.
Rumour has it that a couple of members of Glass Tiger will also be in attendance.
Tickets are a suggested donation of $25.
There will be a silent auction too.
For more info visit www.davidrankineart.com/Pam.htm
Or call Liz at 905 868 9183
Donations can be made online via Paypal to drankine9@hotmail.com
Sounds like it will be a great evening ~ come out and have some fun.
